Thank you Hutt Valley community! We had a great crowd join us today at Silverstream Railway Station. We joined forces with KiwiRail and Silverstream Lions Club NZ to clean up the area – painting out graffiti along the railway corridor and picking up loads of rubbish – ironing board, tyres and a sword among the finds, and planting and mulching new native shrubs.

We were joined by some familiar faces today who are up to their 5th or 6th clean up with us, and some new faces who helped us clean up along the railway corridor, along Fergusson Drive and surrounds.

Extra special thanks to the crew of children from St Marys Anglican Silverstream who put in a lot of effort around Terminus and Gard Streets – and to Isaac of KiwiRail for sorting our access to the site, the petrol weedeater, the trailer of mulch, Subway for lunch and taking care of us generally. Superstar!

It was made even better to be working under the flutter of the newly installed Keep Hutt Valley Beautiful flags, installed on Tuesday thanks to the Upper Hutt City Council.
